Location of RCL Control Module 1996 SL500?

I am trying to figure out why my 1996 SL500 will not lock/unlock from the driver's door or trunk locks. The infrared device works fine.

Alldata component locator shows the RCL module (N54) in the trunk area by the gas filler, but it's not there. In a discussion about the Drive Authorization System, it shows it behind the passenger side air bag for cars from 1995 on.

Could someone confirm this? I would like to check the input to the control module from the door/trunk lock micro switches.

Thanks.

It is shown in three different starfinders from wiring diagrams 93-95, 96, and 97 on as being in behind the filler pipe in the trunk.

Plan B?

Thanks.

I know exactly where you mean. It's where Alldata shows the RCL unit. But it's not there. What is there is the ATA (alarm) module complete with its 33 pin connector (RCL has 18) and correct PN 140 820 6626. I removed it to get a good look behind the brace and filler tube. Nothing.

I also removed the liner on the front trunk bulkhead and looked around. Again, nothing.

Here's the other diagram from Alldata.

Starfinder is incorrect. The attached picture shows the correct location of N54 (labeled N26 here).

I have exactly the same problem on my 1995 SL500.
the car will not crank the starter and all of light turn on normally on dash board.
The car only opens manually with the key.

The remote controls do not do anything.
Is there a temp fix that I can do to start the car.
