M103-hardened rockers w/old cam?
Hello all,
My 300TE (1988) recently developed a valve tapping noise, which I just determined was a worn rocker arm. The cam lobes all look fine, surprisingly, but the old-style rocker arm is garbage (the rocker next to it looks worn too, just not quite as bad). I installed a new-style rocker (with the hardened face) and the noise went away immediately. To be thorough I'd like to next replace the rest of the old, worn rocker arms, but can I use the newer-style, hardened rockers with the original cam? Or do I need to find old-style replacement rockers? I would like to avoid the expense and hassle of replacing the cam. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
