Ngk bp5es - help

Hope everyone is having a good night so far... can't say the same for me.
While I was tuning up my '89 300E this evening I couldn't get the NGK's to tighten because the 13/16" socket is too big. The Bosch use a 5/8" drive and the opening is only big enough for a socket a little over that. Am I missing something here??? I was really excited about switching over from the Bosch h9dc plugs to the NGK BP5ES but, I guess it'll have to wait until tomorrow
