Question 1993 400sel limp home

Today my wives 1993 400sel went into "limp home"mode. The car is a one owner with 79k on it. Always stored in a heated/ac garage. The main problem is no warning lights are on in the dash pod,no ASR light ,no warning lights at all it looks all normal. I have tried to reset the car by turning off and restarting. but it stays in the LH mode. I have disconected the battery hoping it would reset, but it stays in the LH mode. The question is why is the car in the LH mode and why are there no indicator/warning lights on.
Thanks for any help.

If the ASR warning light is working it should be on in the limp home mode. Not all limping cars are actually in the limp home mode. Next step would be to read the fault codes on the 38 pin connector.

No fault codes on pin 38. I guess my car is just all of a sudden running like crap. The car runs better when it is cold but as it warms up it feels like the gas pedal is dead only getting low rpm's. Any thoughts were to look first?

What do you mean by that?

You checked every module from that diagnostic port and got no codes ?

Correct no codes on any of the pins. Could a crack distribitor cap be the problem. This all seem to start happening after a car wash and a fill up?

Some don"t flash anything. Cleaned all the wires, new plugs, cleaned the caps and put new rotors in. Same thing no low end throtle response.(dead pedal) if I keep featering the pedal it will get up to interstate speed and runs almost good. At stop lights, if I turn on a/c the car realy starts to lope and miss. Still no warning light lit.

You need to get that one flash to know that you've had a sucessful code read. It would be unusual for a car to run that badly and not throw a single code.

Unhappy

Found out today I need a new throttle housing on my 1993 400sel. Question is how tough is it to install yourself, and why are thay trying to charge me $2,500.00 the part seems to be about $900.00.Replacment doesn't look that hard. Is there any DIY on replacing it my self.
