124 door locks

1989 300te...door lock mechanism doesn't quite work. Push the front lock down, the rest do not respond. Push any door down, no response. Unlock the trunk with the key, they all open. Fuse is OK...what do I do now? In detail, please...

You get a wiring diagram and evaluate the break between the door actuators and the supply pump.

AMEND...Upon further investigation...Push the front lock down, the rest do not respond. The trunk and pass. locks DO activate the system. What do I do? IF I take the door panel off, what am I looking for?

Look first at the linkage between the lock mechanism and the vacuum actuator. The switch for the pump control is in the actuator. Since the pass side works the system then the vacuum is working. When one uses the key one moves the actuator which moves the switch in that device and activates the pump for the rest of teh system. You either aren't moving the actuator in the drivers door or the actuator switch is bad or it is unplugged.

Well, door panel is removed and I found, what I THINK, is the problem/ cause. There are three wires going to the lock (red/white, blue, brown)...encased in a thick rubber plug. These wires are cut at the plug...the clipped wires are just hanging there. I will take the plug apart and attempt to solder the wires back on. Do you think that this could be the cause of the problem?

Yes, those are the wires.
