heater specs
one recent cold morning found me using the heater of my 88 3ooe; on defrost mode i got lots of hot air fast, and on 'economy' EC 2speed fan mode got hot air, but on 'auto' there was little or no hot air, even when putting the thermostat into the red.
does the heater only work on ec or defrost on the 2speed fan swwitches? thanks! |

The heater should function normally regardless of whether it is on auto or economy mode. Maybe someone else can shed some light as to possible problems with your climate control.

The act of temperature control is a mixing process. The defrost position is maximum heat and dehumidified air via the A/C being also on.
When in EC the system mixes heat with ambient and you get heat. When in any other position the A/C is on so there is not the distinct heat position unless you are very far from the set temp or "Max" temp setting. If you are not getting the proper mixture eventually then there is a problem.
