Can not open car doors or trunk 99 230kompressor
I just went out to my car yesterday to get something out of the trunk but the dumb, er, smart keys wouldn't do anything and even the mechanical key will not open the doors. Though it will go into the key lock.
My main question is, how do you get into the car when the locks won't work using both the remote and the key? And of course I can't check the battery or even pop the hood without getting inside the car. It was raining yesterday here in Sacramento and the temp was about 65/70 if any of that matters. Again it is a 1999 C230 Kompressor TIA Ray |

Try the blade key in the trunk lock. Turn key to the right.
May also be a bad key batt or a bad key.

I have tried the trunk key before I posted but just tried it again and it doesn't want to turn. I do have two smart keys and both quit at the same time.
I think it could be the car battery but I can't get into the car to pop the hood to check it. I have used a pair of pliers to hold the key and turn it but the lock doesn't seem to want to turn, in the door or the trunk. I don't want to force it to the point where it will snap off. I could take the two batt. out of the remote/smartkey but I really don't think that it would be the problem. I can not understand why the key itself won't work. I have never used it before and for all I know it may have never worked. I am really stumped on this one. lol |

The mechanical key should work no matter what. Maybe you can check with the dealer and see if it is the right key for your car?

The locks get stiff with no use. Keep trying the blade key.
Is a vacuum system.
