W124 intermittent rear side marker lights
I've had continuous problems with the rear side marker lights in my 87 300D for the 18 months I've had the car. The very OE looking Osram bulbs make intermittent contact with the flimsy sockets. The bulb warning light will go on when I hit a bump and go off with the next bump. Left does this frequently but now the right is starting to do it too. Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks, Sixto 87 300D |

Maybe try some Contact Oxidation Solvent. Wurth makes a good one.

I've had a couple where the plastic clips aren't holding the stamped steel bulb holder anymore (W124), then there isn't much/any contact force. I've had to replace the entire bulb holder to repair it.

You may be better off replacing the assembly the bulbs fit into. I have an ASR-equipped car, and got an ASR light and ended up in limp mode because of contact issues with the taillight assy. Hard to believe, but true.
