I hate weird noises lol

Whats up guys! I'm new to the bored but Phil said I should get on here and join in the fun. I got a problem with my 190e, more of a weird noise like an exhaust pipe rattling but its not. I can't remember exactly when it started doing it but I've been trying to figure it out for awhile. The noise happens at 2 grand on the tach sometimes but not all the times. Sometimes when its really cold I get a whirling noise as well at all rpms. The rattling noise Is coming from the center of the car, the whirling noise I can't determine where thats coming from. The motor mounts have been changed, along with the tranny mount, center mount on the driveshaft (what I originally thought it was), and front flexplate. The back flexplate is still good. Last time I was under it, I didn't really check the tranny mount but Phil thought it could be that. I changed it earlier this year but I know by now that dosen't mean a thing. I wanna check that today but its 20 freakin degrees outside. The rear subframe mounts are sitting off the stops. The have alittle dry rot but hell its 17 years old. My little bro said don't worry about it man, it's old. You should here my truck, I laughed for a minute then said this is a Merecedes not a Chevy lol. Anybody got a idea on what else I can check? I checked the rear 5 link and it looks good (little dry rot again). The left side of the car on the rear sag's about an 1/8 inch. Maybe I'm missing something, I'm confused cause everything looks good and It dosent make one noise going over bumps Any help would be appreciated.

Just a guess, is it a loose shield on the catalytic convertor?

ok now that im froze, everything is tight around the tranny. The transmission mount is solid, not broken. The exhaust is nowhere near anything that would rattle (exhaust is a custom magnaflow system), and as far as i can tell with my flash light the rear looks solid. confusing

well i think i might have an idea what might me causing the whirling noise, do you think 85-140 gear oil would cause it? I just changed it like 2 weeks ago, don't remember it pre hand. The other noise I still can't figure it out. The noise will continue till you let off the gas pedal, push the gas pedal again when its around 2k it will do it again. I don't know much about the tranny and torque converter systems on these cars but would you think I'm starting to have a problem there? The fluid is clean though unless the tail shaft is having a problem. Sometimes when the car goes in first (mercedes second lol) it clunks from the rear end. Though when I get under the car and try to reproduce that noise, no matter how hard I turn that drive shaft it won't do it. I think what started all this is my damn 18's. E430 17's coming soon. I'm just throwin straws to the wind right now, anybody have a similar problem or noted problem like this? Maybe had noise problems with 18's, I mean these wheels weigh 48lbs. 1991 190e 2.6 somebody has had to have a similar problem before like this.

or could this be a sign the rear end is going out? I've ragged my trans am's rear before and it didn't sound like this but hey its a mercedes, things are different. I killed 3 diffs in that car lol 450hp with a 3600 stall converter = dead diff ha ha ha (poor stock 10 bolt). One day the mercedes will be just as fast, just smoother. Anybody have a 3.2 liter out there? M104 with harness and computer. I love the smoothness of the 2.6 but I wish it would pick up better around 3500 and above. One day that will be next switch. For now the 2.6 with a heavily shaved and extensively ported polished head moves good for now Now if I just could figure out what this noise is. Could I post a video clip on here? Maybe that way you guys could hear what I hear. I'm no stranger to hot rodding, problem solving, and just straight up tweaking but I can't figure it out.

I can't remember exactly how much play I had but I pretty sure I got more than that. Do you think the 18's killed it? Mine has a 3.27 rear end gear. If I have to replace it I wanna put in a euro 2.87. When I changed the fluid it was green (?) for some reason. I don't think it was every changed before. Maybe later I'll check it, I know if I leave the car in park and push it I can rock it back and forth about an 1" or so. How much play are these things supposed to have?

the center mount on the drive shaft is brand new also, and correctly centered. The universal joint on the drive shaft is also still in perfect shape

Hey whats your email so I can get a hold of you? I'll check it maybe today or tomorrow for sure. I would like to take it to my dads work and stick it on a left just to make sure but I dont know what he's up to. So I'll get back to you. If you can get a good one let me know how much, I'll probably need the axles. I think there different right? Now I think about it, the more it points to the diff. The 18's are rapped in 25.3" tall 48lbs rim/tires so ya there overkill. I'm putting on 205/45 r17's (24.3" 38lbs rim/tires) when I put the sportline springs on. I'm not trying to make a racer out of it, I'm just trying to imagine what AMG could have done to it ya know? I mean amagine what AMG could make for those special customers that had the money in the day. I can't afford a custom brand new one, so I will make my own AMG style Mercedes toy. The first plan of making it an over grown toy (like a hot wheels car) failed, handled great; slow as hell. To bad I messed stuff up on the way that I haven't played with yet. I'm handy at 350, not I-6's that's why I like this car. It's fun, and well enginered.
