What are acceptable fluids for use in the 722.3xx series of automatic transmissions. I have been reading this board and have been getting a wide range of opinions as to what is acceptable. It seemed to me that in my MB docs they stated that Dextron Mercon III it an approved fluid. Any more opinions on this issue ?

Since 1968 Dextron(Dextron2 & Dextron3) has been the only approved ATF. OF course that DOES NOT apply to the new electronic transmissions 722.6_ series.
