Replacing Trunk Hinge on 201 - How?
How does one remove the 201 trunk hinge from the body of the car inside the trunk? Is there a post or pin attaching the pivot point of the hinge to the body? If so, is that post reached by removing the rear shelf panel behind the rear seat? The pivot point on my replacement hinge has a hole through which it appears a pin goes, such that the pivot point of the hinge rotates. Also, that hole through the pivot point of the hinge is offset, suggesting that the pivot point, if indeed it has a pin going through it, causes the trunk lid to move back and forth on the pivot as the trunk is opened and closed -- again all suggesting to me that there is a pin in there that has to be removed before the hinge itself can be removed from the body to be replaced. If there is such a pin, how does one access it and remove it?
None of the manuals I have show how these parts go together.
Thanks for any thoughts and guidance. If anyone can debunk my theory and show that the system is simpler than I imagine, that would be great.
