Euro headlight level adjuster, who has it?

i am wondering how many folks with euro lights have this option on their cars?

do you like it? did your cars come with it? is it pretty much a do it yourself procedure? where did you have it done?

i'm just dying to get this done on my car, but i still need some input, please.

thanks

peter

I have Euro lights with the levelling feature, but have not connected the units. Some Euro lights have the vacuum actuators built in, most aftermarket lights don't, even if made by Hella or Bosch OE suppliers, unless you specifically order them that way at extra cost.

An article in the Star described the part numbers and connction features. IF you have the headlights with the actuators, all you need is some vacuum line, Y adapters, and a Euro faceplate for the headlight switch that has a 4 or 5 position roller switch, a bit like the center console fader.

The Actuators are black cylinders inside the back cover of the headlight housing about the diameter of soup cans. You can't miss seeing them if you have them. If you don't, you need different lights. Like I say, I have the actuators, but have never hooked them up - my lights are MB Euro Hella units off of a dismantled gray market w124, and have the MB number and logo on them.

Hope this helps.

Lightbulb

All Eurolights come with this capability built in. It is not an option. I have mine connected and working. Have since day 1. Nice option to have. Takes a little longer to hook up.

Actually, some of the Euro lights do not have self levelling actuators. The Hella site
http://www.hella.com/produktion/HellaPortal/WebSite/Internet_en/ProductsServices/ForWholesalers/Lighting/Specific/MercedesW124.jsp

lists the units available both with and without self levelling, (footnote 4), and the IMPCO/Performance rep I talked to before I got my gray market units said they did NOT have self levelling. (maybe he was mistaken, but the shop in san Diego where I got my gray market lights also had new Hellas without level adjust actuators.

Check for those actuators before buying the faceplate and tubing. The Star article is the one at the link posted above by Blaubenz_MB.

My bad. However, all BOSCH ones do have them.

thanks for the responses

thank's for the comments so far!

i have the 1 piece lightswitch & adjuster on its way from europe, hopefully in the next week or so i'll be all set.

i have a friend, who is also a m.b. tech to do this for me, i'm just needing all the info i can get on this.

we travel a lot in the benz and it's a pain to have to readjust the lights if we have a trunk full of stuff.

if anyone is interested, i have an extra "add-on" adjustment roller switch that is brand new, i want to sell.

thanks

peter

What company in Europe did you purchase your lightswitch & adjuster from?

I have euro lights with this option on one of my Benzes and I do frequently use it. The car is a Euro model, it came with the car, and I didn't install it. There are times I need longer legs on my low beams and other times when I prefer more light concentrated in closer.

I have them on my euro and they are useful especially when you are fully loaded in the back, they help dip the lights (very nice feature).

follow up

well i now have my vacuum headlight adjuster installed and working.

it is very nice! it works so smoothly. i highly recommend this to anyone with an interest.

imho it's the frosting on the cake, to the euro lights.

the "euro models" have some pretty sweet options we don't seem to be able to get very easy here in the u.s.

I have the adjusters on my 240D Euro lights and it is a valuable device for my particular situation. I drive 20 miles of narrow, winding, farm to market road just to get to the highway. I leave early in the morning, so always drive this stretch in darkness in the morning. In the Winter time I'm also driving this stretch of road in darkness on the return trip. The problem on this road is dilligently watching for deer and escaped livestock. The adjuster allows me to raise the headlights just a little when on this section of road, but I can still keep the lights out of the eyes of oncoming drivers when in town and on the highway. I love 'em.

Have a great day,

Nope, not yet...

I will mail you the measurements for the side markers one of these days. I already send you some digital fenderholes, didn't I?

greetingz,
