Wife drives over curb

Moral of the story is to never let the wife use your car, but then again, most of us should already know that.

So the wife drove over a curb and really did some damage to the 300sd (84).

Any idea how much it would cost to have a shop replace the tie rod, front ps control arm and oil pan? Doesn’t look like much else was hit, although it would need an alignment as well. I really hate to go through insurance but I’m now at the age where doing this stuff myself really is a bit hard on the old bones.

Thankfully those parts (even new) aren't as expensive as on the newer MB's! A lower control arm is about $220 + a ball joint $30 + new shock $80 + upper control arm (possibly) $100.....plus labor....probably in the $800-1000 range all said and done.

I don't let my wife use my car.

Thanks. What do you think about the tie rod? Can't be more than about 150 right?

OUCH!
If you have to do one side, you might as well do the other side and have the front end zero timed..

My ex drove her Ford Escort over a parking lot divider. She managed to get it caught on the frame with the front wheels off the ground! My BIL and I sat on the hood and got the wheels on the ground enough to have her drive it off the divider. Luckily for me she did not do any damage to the car.

Get your wife a 1985 Escort and let her drive over all the curbs she wants
