rear view mirror s500

The right side rear view mirror is melting the coating off the inside of the mirror. The heater inside the mirror must be over heating. The coating ran down the side of the car door. Can I replace just the mirror and the heater and thermostat comes with the mirror? I don't see how the mirror is removed from the housing. Thanks for any help

The heating element is part of the glass, as well as the thremostat. $$ part.

Is this an auto-dimming (EC) mirror? Sounds like it is, and the seal has leaked. Unfortunately you'll probably need a new mirror element, which is an R&S part, best calling around for a used one. It comes with the heater & thermostat already stuck to the back.

How does the mirror come apart ? Does the mirror pop out of the housing?
