Question Kompressor Shake and Roar

My 1999 C230 Kompressor roars like crazy when I first start it up - to the point of shaking and rattling items in the trunk and causing the floor boards to shake. When moved from park, it leaps into gear, although the idle is not set high. When stopping while in gear it happens all over again. I have to put it in N for a stop light to stop the shaking. It drives smoothly on highway at highway speeds, although quite a bit of engine noise, but is dreadful around town. Anybody have any ideas. My nearest MBZ expert is 100 miles away.

Sounds like engine mounts.

Yup, busted motor mounts. Do all the mounts while you're at it, they won't be far behind.

Yep. You are correct. I should have remembered the same problem with my 300 SDL a few years ago. Got the parts ordered; should get away with $350 bucks out the door.
