mercedes smart

05 mercedes smart car left side airbag deployed while driving, no resonable explanation ?????

Defnitely a fault with the sensors or control unit.

No. I have heard of it in a different Mercedes model shortly after production began, but it only fired the pre-safe tensioners, not the airbag. They changed the control unit design and vendor as a result.

The Smart has been in production a long time (in Europe), so this sounds very unusual.

This is my sisters vehicle. She is pretty freaked out. Vehicle warranty has expired and I am curious to hear the dealer response. Will probably launch this to MB Canada to request a n/c repair.
