1995 c280

A friend of mine has a 1995 C280 and the check engine light comes on sometimes. She said it comes on and stays on then it goes out, sometimes it goes out for a week and then comes back on. My question is how do I check for codes on this car, or is there something else I should check? Thanks.

C-280 check engine light

My 95 C-280 check engine light is on constantly. The EGR valve has been replaced along with the engine wiring harness, plugs, wires and spark plug connectors. Car runs fine and displays no other symptons. Any suggestions?
