Missing tool kit

Much to my dismay I found that the factory tool kit is missing from the trunk compartment in my '89 300CE. Where can I find a suitable replacement? Would Mercedes Benz still have inventory of a suitable replacement, perhaps from a newer model? If I get one from a salvage yard, what should be included in the kit? Also, I'm looking for a set of rubber floor mats. Last time I checked the dealer says they no longer carry them. I don't like the quality or fit of aftermarket mats, but can I find a suitable OEM fit and style somewhere?

Except, unlike original, from-the-factory toolkits, the new replacement kits from MBz come in a blue canvas bag, rather than the original burgundy color bag. No big deal, unless you're into authenticity big time, and then it's a bit of a disappointment.

Should be several open end combination wrenches as well.

Should have at least:

1. Two piece jack handle
2. Two or 3 open ended wrenches
3. Screw driver with reversible phillips and flat blades
4. Wheel pin
5. Set of fuses
6. Pliers

What's in the kit varies from model to model and chassis to chassis.

Diesel and gas can each have unique tools relating to spark plugs or glow/injector wrenches.

Haven't opened one up recently to be able to give an exact account of what should be in a W124 kit....

Jim

Dealer costs are probably high, I've seen factory tool sets on eBay typically $35 to $65. Except for the lug wrench, they're usually unused. I think alot of DIY pack their own non-factory tools. You can add as many tools as you want, Jim's list is typical. There's a manual sunroof tool too. The wrenches are two sizes. I've never seen them at self-help dismantlers but you may find them at Mercedes specialty yards.

Thanks for the replies. Another member is offering a tool kit for sale, and hopefully I won't have a breakdown or flat until then.... Interestingly I have the original jack still tucked away behind the spare and the little tag for changing a tire is sitting in the wheel well. Must have been removed during a service. As far as the rubber mats, I could not find them on the Fastlane website. Unless I'm missing something, the site did not list them in their parts database.
