change shift lever

How do I change the shift lever on a w114 280c?

Based on the limited info provided I am assuming you have a manual transmission. If so, pull up the boot on the shift lever and you will see four bolts on a part which contains the shift tube.

Thanks for the reply. No, it's an automatic. Sorry, should have included that. Looks like some of the console will have to be removed to get to the base of the shaft. Not sure how to remove the interior auto/trans face plate that shows the gears.
