i know it's a contradiction in terms to have 560SEL and economy in the same sentence BUT...

how can one know if you are getting the best you can out of the 560SEL as far as fuel mileage? on my 86 560SEL my last trip of 600 miles I got 16 MPG and i just checked my around town mileage and got 12 MPG.

also, i'm experiencing hard starts. it cranks fast but won't start until I give it a little gas. then it starts but runs rough like it's flooded for a few seconds then runs perfectly smooth

also had it smogged within the last few days.. as the DMV kept the certificate I can't quote the numbers exactly but I remember seeing my results as 1.2 compared to a maximum 220? reading and the other number registered as 0 and i don't remember what the maximum allowed was.
