Has anyone used Curil T on Timing cover reseal
To me it looks like Loctite 5900 is the sealer recommended by MB for timming cover reseal. Hylomar is also recommended. I have Curil T on hand and need to repair ASAP. Anyone have experience with Curil T on ths job? Thanks

Not worth it, get the 5900. Make sure you leave the sealer set up overnight before starting the engine.

Curil T
Thanks, I located a tube of Loctite 5900 at a Mercury outboard parts store 45 miles away. This stuff is difficult to find. I'm going to drive the distance to get it. Apparently it's used on these motors also. It is available on several online auto parts sites too.

dennish, I recommend using the black sealant sold at your local MB dealer. It's fairly expensive, but prevents leaks ... worth the price.

I used Hylomar on my 602 recently. I was skeptical about it, but so far no leaks. Only about 2000 miles though.

McMaster-Carr carries Loctite 5900. A bit spendy.
