What Are the Bundled Wires/Cables at The Lower-Right of Passenger Floor (95 E320)

Under the carpet and padded under layer, at the lower right of the passenger floor, coming in from the fender, are a bundle of wrapped wires/cables that course to the back of the car, via the door sills. Included in this mass are the O2 sensor wires. What are they, and what odd things could happen if they get wet?

I ask because I discovered some wetness under the passenger carpet earlier this week. The foam under layer was soaked. I traced this to a clogged drain in the fender that backed accumulated water into the passenger floor.

One result of this was a corroded O2 sensor connection, which I successfully corrected. But could other electrical quirks occur as a result of such wetness? Do any of these wires/cables, in addition to the O2, contribute to fuel system/emissions control?
