engine oil visible on the block
There is a leak from somewhere. I dont know if the seals are gone or not. I swapped the self leveling suspension with a plug and thought thats where the leak was from but thats not the case. The car is a euro version 16v with 49k on the clock. I rarely drive it. My engine oil light is also on and stays on for some time then goes away briefly only to return. My engine oil pressure is 100%. Can some one give me a hand.
thanks in advance |

Have you physically checked the oil level with the dip stick? The oil light could be staying on because the oil level is low (especially if you have a leak). Even if the oil level is low, the pressure will probably still read good as it is registering the oil pressure within the engine, not the level of the oil.

Have you noticed physical evidence of an oil leak, such as seepage stains on the engine, or on the ground underneath the car? Give the car a good run, park it, place a large sheet of cardboard or newspaper underneath the engine/transmission area, and allow the car to sit for several hours (be sure to weigh the cardboard /paper down at the corners). Obviously, the presence of fresh oil on the paper would confirm the existence of a leak, and the location of the spot relative to the engine would be helpful in locating the culprit. Any evidence of oil burning, such as blue smoke on startup or on heavy acceleration?

oil on the engine block
the oil on the block looks like seepage stains. i wiped down the stains about a month ago to see if this was still leaking. looked this weekend and sure enough it was seeping on the wall below where the old rear suspension pump used to sit. i thought it was leaking from the suspension plug but that is not the case. by the way, there is no leaking underneath. i did not notice smoke either.
thank.s |
