126 Wipers

Are the wipers on the 126 interchangable (left to right) or are they specific to one side.

The blades are specific, the inserts are not.

This is a stupid question, but what's the difference? I just need the rubber part, which I'm thinking is the insert.

Sounds like you just need the insert which is the actual rubber blade. You should be able to pick these up from any auto parts store.

Just curious...
I wondered about the same question as well, when I got a pair of new Bosch wiper blade assembly, I compared them, they are look exactly the same except numbers and markings, so what is the difference between the two?

I wouldn't advise buying refills at just any supply house. Getting a refill that works properly in a Bosch blade will need Bosch refill. Even then Bosch makes refills for at least three different style blades.

You must have the right refill! The rubber part is supported by metal strips that do not come with the proper refill. Refills from any other manufacturer will use a rubber with plastic support integral to it. Once the metal is thrown away, only a complete blade will fix the mess. The complete blade is a special MB part made by Bosch. Using a generic Bosch blade also is not the answer.

Now maybe they changed things with the 126 chassis, but my '80 300SD has 2 different size blades. The shortest being 18" and is the one that sweeps in front of the driver. The other is 19". To make things even more confusing, the wiper arm for the 19" blade is shorter than the 18" wiper blade. My car has original stainless steel Bosch "blades", the part that holds the rubber element. Since these aren't just available anywhere, I replace just the rubber element/refill with Bosch "Microedge" refills. Since the 126 cars have the same "flopping" wiper pattern, I would venture to guess that the wiper dimensions may be the same.

126 wipers

for what its worth.i have an 89 300se and from what i can gather the drivers side requires a 22 inch blade and the passeger side should be a 20 inch.bosch makes several styles that will work just fine.,without having to go buy the blades at a dealer, just my two cents. ed

i stand corrected

just got a new set from the mb dealer.they are bosch but are special made for the dealers.they have 2 different part numbers and have different markings on them.they are both 22 inches in lenth.now the only problem i have is finding out which is the left and which is the right.they appear to be identical, except for the markings.LLi/Rre and the other has Lre/RLi.anyone have any ideas???they are made in belgium could these letters mean something in the belgian language?at least if they had the mb part numbers on them i could easily find out.also on the rubber itself one has 1.14 the other has 1.12?anyone have a clue?????????????????????????????????????????

The W126 doesn't have a single wiper?

Bah! I like the single wiper. Do Mercedes use the single wiper any more? I've never actually noticed.

Do you think I could ask AMG to make me an SL55 with the single wiper?

later!
