From Park to Reverse "Clank"
My 1989 300SE trans makes a loud "clank" when shifting from park to reverse first thing in the morning and also from drive to reverse...except when I'm sitting still and shift from one to the other. When I move just a bit and then shift into reverse, it would make that noise. I'm afraid to say; it sounds like metal against metal!
I checked the trans fuild level (made sure NOT to "contaminate the dip stick") and it appeared to be fine. I think I'm going to have the trans fuild changed first (of course) but is this something that anyone else is experiencing? (By-The-Way...it's got 88K miles) |
