W201, manual seats, thigh support knob, how to remove?
A search showed this to be the most applicable thread, but didn't really answer my question. Pretty old thread too.
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=61310 I went to a pick-a-part junkyard today to pick up a few things. One item I walked away with was a manual driver's seat with the thigh height adjustment in addition to the normal fore and aft adjustment on the front of the seat, the rear seat hight adjustment on the left rear of the seat and the recline adjustment on the right rear of the seat under the arm rest. My current seat doesn't have the thigh support and being a taller fellow, I could make use of it, but I need to to put my upholstery on the junkyard seat frame. The thigh support height adjustment consists of a four "blade" black knob that you turn to drive a cam that raises or lowers the front of the seat. The junkyard seat has trashed upholstery of the wrong color and I need to remove it and put my existing covers on the frame. This knob is on the left side of the seat all the way forward on the seat. How do I remove this knob? What's the secret? I'm stumped and cannot proceed further until I get this knob off. Thank you.

I just pryed mine off (10mins ago) it was tight , I used a screw driver to ease it off the shaft , it has a couple of flats on the shaft , possibly a little corrosion to help hold it on .
pic attached LOL , I just noticed this is a REALLY old thread , , I hope the pic is helpful to some one else . Last edited by Foxglove; 11-09-2018 at 05:43 PM. |
