1993 400e transmission skips 2nd gear

Hello all, I have a 1993 400e and it skips 2nd gear under light load acceleration going from 1st to 3rd, however under full throttle, it will go through all the gears just fine. I just replaced the filter/transmission fluid and the problem is still there. Also, the car shifts from 1st to 3rd at around 2900-3300 RPMs. It will also go from 3rd gear to 4th at about 3000/3400 rpms. When I put the gear lever down to 2, it will stay in 1st gear all and won't shift to 2nd gear unless it hits redline. What is the problem?

Also, what is flaring? I've been reading about transmission stuff, could it be the B2 piston or a vacuum line making it shift early from 1st to 3rd (skipping 2nd)?

Flaring is when the engine revs up, but the car doesn't accelerate. Usually happens between shifts. If it happens all the time, the car won't move.

What is happening to my 1993 400e sometimes now. Hoping a filter change and fresh fluid help.

Try replacing filter and fluid and the stage pistons on the side. I have seen those cracked/broken and cause alot of issues.

Oliver, my transmission is doing something similar... did you ever get this fixed? If so, what was the solution?
