Intake Air Temp Sensor Wiring
I am trying to locate the routing of the intake air temp wiring (so I can figure out how to add a sensor back in - mine has apparaently been removed). Can anyone out there describe or take a pic that would help me locate where the wire from this sensor would route to? Thanks. (Car is a 1992 300E Non-CA)

You want a picture and a schematic wiring routing for a car that we have no idea of make, or model, or year....
Does that occur to anyone anymore ????????

IAT sensor B17/2 is wired across IAT Input terminals #5 [ br/wt] and #14 [wt/rd] of the N3/CIS Engine Control unit..........

Thanks guys. I will try to trace this out and report back on what I find.

the air intake temp sensor is virtually useless...doesn't mean anything...has nothing with the day to day execution of the engine process....

cliffmac, are you saying it is not worth trying to trace this down? What is the purpose of the sensor? The only thing I don't like is that it produces an error code that will not clear without it, but if there is no operational difference, maybe I won't worry about it.

Anyone else chime in on this, do you think it is worth it to trace this sensor input down? I just don't like having a code that won't clear, but maybe I'll put up with it. Thanks for any input.

Well, if you are listening Cliffie , you sure don't want any factual info on the reason Benz uses an IAT sensor. Or why they even wasted the time to have a bad one bring up a warning code...those silly Benz designers...what do they know about the temp of the intake air having an effect on the mass of air entering the engine and the different parameters for the Engine Managemant ECU mapping to take that temp into consideration for mapping calculations for the adjusting of the Air/Fuel mixture for max efficiency.
Cliff know all these things..read some of his other excellent technical postings... Hook it up.
