My 300 SEL

Hi all, my 300 will start great when cold but if I leave it sit for a few minutes it will start and run rough for a few seconds. If I start it right up within a minute or two it is fine. I also smell gas after it starts like it is flooded maybe. Could this be inj seals allowing leak down on the cyl?

How many miles?

I THINK someone on here awhile back had a similiar issue, but I cant recall for sure. I will see if I can look it up.

Could just need a tuneup though.

I think you've got the correct diagnosis-- leaky injectors. Fits all the symptoms.

So is that just seals or inj as well? If the seals need changing what all goes along with that?

Could also be fuel pressure check valve near fuel pump.

I would think if it were a check valve the fuel would drain back and it would start hard. It starts right up but stumbles and smells of fuel like flooding.

My 300E does the same thing.....when its real hot out it will fire right off then die. A second try gets it started.....sometimes it cranks for a few seconds though. I'm guessing the injectors are the culprit....eventually I will replace them.

The valve has a small tube that goes to the rubber hose from the engine to the airfilter. If the valve fails a lot of fuel goes tho the filter. If the tube is disconnected (as it often is) you will smell fuel.

You may be referring to the fuel pressure regulator, not the fuel check valve. The check valve has no effect on the air filter.
