mercedes benz question

hi. my question is how do i check my water pump and radiator to see if they are working properly, my car is running hot and it gets hot real fast, i look at the dip stick not milky and no oil in water, im a little confuse about this problem i also check the fan clutch its working and the thermostat is working i kinda think its the water pump but not sure please help me i know what the mechanic shop is going to do to me thanks again.

I'd change the thermostat first...they tend to head south when the season heats up.....plus they are cheap and relatively easy to replace and if it turns out to be a water pump or radiator you would put a new themostat in anyway, as a matter of course....I'd replace the thermostat myself before even considering any other course of action...seen it several times on BMWs, Audis and even Peugeots....they just stick and won't open...

how do you know the thermostat is working? did you take it out and put it in cold water in a pan on your stove and then bring the water to a boil and actually observe the thing open up? Cause that's really the only way you be sure that the thing is working...seriously...best of luck (and to be quite honest that's even worth the effort and expense)....I'd just get a new thermostat for like $15 and put it in and see....
