Thumbs down Killed my electronics! Now what?

I can't believe it..... I jumped my '87 300D today and I was not paying attention. You guessed it, I touched the clamp to the battery terminal with the clamps on the other car reversed!

After starting the car, the airbag and antilock lights stayed on and the warning buzzer won't go out. I'm pretty sure I zapped the computer(s)... Sheesh!

Anyone know exactly which components I'm going to need to change? I haven't looked at the fusebox yet to see if I blew a few. Does the main computer control all that stuff and will simply replacing it fix things? I feel stupid about doing this.

I know there are some control boxes hidden under the dash, but I have forgotten what box controls what.

Thanks for any help while I look up the parts in the book.

Kevin

Also check the OVP up near the firewall. That fuse could have popped or the relay itself could have fried.

All the components in there are protected against reversed power. There is usually a hulking big diode in series with power or one in parallel that is usually reverse biased - reverse the power leads and it blows the fuse. Don't panic yet - check the fuses.

Thumbs up Thanks!

Whew! I'm not as worried now... I'm out of town again, so I'll have to check the relay and fuses when I get home.

Thanks for all the responses so far. Keep 'em coming!

Thanks again,

Kevin
