Where is my oil filter on this "gasser"? 300E
PLease excuse the lack of basic knowledge here.
I only know my 300D & SDs.....not these modern gasser cars. I have no idea where the oil drain bolt & oil filter are located on my 1993 300E. I have done all my oil changes at the MB tech, and he's closed today. I have a few hours so if I can I a quick reply on locations, and I am guessing I will also need a special size filter wrench for this job. TY, Austin ........

Its a spin on filter behind the air cleaner down below. Look down by the firewall back there on the drivers side and you will see it. Air cleaner removal is not necessary, but you will need an oil filter cap socket (no special one, I believe it is a size "B" at autozone) to get it off....and to put on the new one. (spin by hand till it has resistance, then tighten 3/4 turn)
I just changed the oil on mine yesterday and it was so easy! (vs a diesel with the annoying filter element) The drain bolt is on the drivers side of the oil pane at the front bottom.

I've got the 3.2 in this . I can see the filter and it looks like big hands are not going to be a plus in this case. A very tight squeeze. Do these filter caps have a 12" long handle or extensions?
**How many Qts of oil go in this? TY! AA

A 300E should take 6.3 quarts of oil. Check your Owner's Manual to verify. After draining the old oil add 5 1/2 quarts of oil, start the engine and let it run for a few minutes, wait a few minutes and check the oil level on the dipstick, then add oil to bring the oil level to the mid-point on the dipstick.

just changed my 300e oil yesterday, 6 quarts brings it just below max level. I usually take the air cleaner off to change oil filter, as it is only 3 10mm nuts

The M104 holds just under 8 quarts of oil. A good amount more than the M103
