W201 window problem - what should I pull today from the pick-a-part junkyard?
Since I've had my W201, the passenger front window would "click, click, click" when the window would be closed, (after it got to the top, going up to that point is "normal"). For little awhile now, when the window was all the way up, there was a minor hint of wind noise. Not too much, but enough to bug me. The other day, my front seat passenger noticed that she could put her fingernail in between the top of the window and the window channel, (when the window was closed).
At a stop, I got out and using the palm of my hands on either side of the window, pushed it up fully into the window channel. Noise problem solved, but now the window won't go down when I press the button on the center console. I'm taking a run to the pick-a-part junk yard today. Assuming I can find an appropriate donor car, what do I need to pull to fix my window? Are most W201 window regulators the same, or did they vary over the model years? (mine is a '85 model).
