Check engine light and flashing Low gas light

00 E430 4matic,
got the gas filled by the local lukoil for the first time ever. about 50 miles later the low gas light started flashing and check engine light came on.
Figured it was the gas cap, so bought one from the dealer and replaced. Still same thing.
When I come to a stop after driving a while, there's hesitation at idle and a bit of shake in the engine (rough idle) and that's when the low gas light starts to flash again.
Light goes off when i stop the car and restart but comes again after a little bit.
Changed the gas cap again from the dealer thinking it was a bad new cap. no use.
what should I try next other going to the dealer and getting it done there....
thanks in advance

Possibly the sealing flange for the gas cap isn't sealing correctly.

Look closely & see if it has been damaged.

MB Doc, thanks for the reply,
I've noticed that every time I open up the gas cap there's some fuel that has found it's way out of the rubber seal. so you might be right. It happened after the last time I got the gas filled. How do I ensure that the sealing flange is sealing correctly ? should there be visible dent on the metal ?

Thanks MBDOC, I'll order that part. I noticed something today. The flashing low gas light starts to blink only after I've driven the car for atleast 10 minutes, and only when the car comes to a stop at a traffic light etc and is stopped for more than 5 or so seconds. Right before the flashing low gas light comes on, the idle becomes rough.
I always had the A/C off before. Today when I drove with the a/c on, the light never came on. I turned the A/C off and the same thing, light on at stop light right after rough idle...
could this be a bad gas cap then ?
or can this be the cause of bad gas perhaps that I got filled last time ?
