96 C280 vent problem
I own a 1996 C280.
It have been a wonderful car with very little trouble. This week I received the car back from my mechanic, who replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump and water pump. He disconneted the battery in the process of making these repairs. When I started the car my A/C worked, although, I was getting hot air from the driver vent while the others blew cold air. I need to know if this is a vaccum line issue, a stuck vent gate, both or something else. Also, whatever the reason, is it something I can repair myself or does my mechanic need to do this. Thanks for your input and advice. Steve Dale 1996 C280 2001 E430 1995 190E R.I.P. |
Sounds like a vacuum issue, perhaps he accidentally disconnected a vacuum line during his repair. Get him to check it out, he should not charge you anything.

If only 1 side is getting warm (hot) then the heater valve is the most likely issue.
You can try blocking off the water flow with water pump pliers. |
heater valve vs. dual valve
I checked the website's parts companies.
In the Fastlane site they had a ACC dual valve that looked like the electro- magnetic valve I replaced a few years ago. I found it making a "thunking" noise with a small shudder. Is this the dual valve or is this item located under the covered compartment on the passenger side that looks to have 7 ports with lines connected? Also, explain where the hearter valve is. In addition, I noticed a whirring noise coming from the back right section of the car. I believe this houses the vaccum lines for locks, etc. What else could this be? Thanks Steve Dale |
