96 C280 vent problem

I own a 1996 C280.
It have been a wonderful car with very little trouble.
This week I received the car back from my mechanic, who replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump and water pump. He disconneted the battery in the process
of making these repairs.
When I started the car my A/C worked, although, I was getting hot air from the driver vent while the others blew cold air.
I need to know if this is a vaccum line issue, a stuck vent gate, both or something else.
Also, whatever the reason, is it something I can repair myself or does my mechanic need to do this.
Thanks for your input and advice.
Steve Dale

Sounds like a vacuum issue, perhaps he accidentally disconnected a vacuum line during his repair. Get him to check it out, he should not charge you anything.

If only 1 side is getting warm (hot) then the heater valve is the most likely issue.

You can try blocking off the water flow with water pump pliers.

heater valve vs. dual valve

I checked the website's parts companies.
In the Fastlane site they had a ACC dual valve that looked like the electro-
magnetic valve I replaced a few years ago. I found it making a "thunking" noise with a small shudder. Is this the dual valve or is this item located under the covered compartment on the passenger side that looks to have 7 ports with lines connected?
Also, explain where the hearter valve is.
In addition, I noticed a whirring noise coming from the back right section of the car. I believe this houses the vaccum lines for locks, etc. What else could this be?
Thanks
Steve Dale
