1993 300E 3.2L Cold Start Problem

1993 300E 3.2L

After a cold start, my car will run roughly, but usually stay cranked.

If I start it cold and put it immediately into reverse (or drive) and try to start driving, it loses all engine power and usually dies. It sounds like it's choked or something and cannot get enough air, like it's bottoming out.

After this initial problem, I can usually get it started by giving it a little gas, and then it runs perfectly. I just changed the plugs and wires (Bosch).

Any suggestions?

Also, I recently installed a rebuilt transmission in it, which has shifted hard (sporadically) ever since I got it. Is this normal? If not, it still has a warranty.

Thanks for any help you can give.

check fuel pressure then check your cold start valve.
