rear windshield installation

Serious water in trunk problem in my of my 84 300 SD and serious rust in trunk, too. I had to remove my rear window to basically "rebuild" the lower sill, which was just a large hole leading to the trunk. I plan to eventually post "before" and "after" pictures - it was pretty bad..

I used a combination of sheet metal, POR-15, JB weld and putty and am pretty happy with how the new sill looks. Some of the posts online have helped this process. Anyway, am trying to get the old rear window back in. I have a new rubber "gasket" for the window. Many of the posts claim it fits tightly on the old window - mine is rather loose and is coming off the window when I try to put on the trim. Shall I try to "glue" it in place with a proper sealant so that the gasket stays on the window?

I am considering bringing it to a local window shop for the installation b/c it is seeming like it may be challenging, particularly with the gasket constantly slipping off.
