I live near Palm Springs CA I see the cabriolets frequently here, especially in the evenings at Summertime. I agree that a price of $5K is ridiculous. Take out an ad in autotrader.com and start at least $15K
Or PM me and I will give you the phone number of Exotic Motors locally. They deal in all of the NICE cars and have a magnificent collection for sale. You could probably afford to ship it here and still make money. Anziani |
It would likely fetch 15-17k here in South Florida... the big key is service records and a flawlessly working top.
Those cylinders start leaking...and i think it's more age than use. |

Whoever told you that car is worth $5,000 is an infidel. In my opinion that there is around a $20,000 car. She looks perfect!

Ok....I think the vote is unanimous. Your car is in impeccable condition. And the mileage is something that we just dont ever see (considering the durability of these cars).
If you're an MB enthusiast, you know that this car will be a collector car VERY soon. In some people's opinion, it is already a collector car. But I would wager that it's value will double to $30,000-$40,000 in the next 10-15 years. The look and the engineering of these mid-90s cars is timeless and will be greatly appreciated as mercedes get uglier and uglier. For an exotic car, it is also reasobly fuel-efficient, which is hard to find. So if you enjoy looking at the car, and you can manage to drive it minimally, you will be very pleased with the potential sales price in 2020. Personally, I would garage it, and drive it once every month or two. But I would make sure that I drove it at least 100-200 miles to keep everything in working order and achieve proper operating temparatures. When you do sell the car, I would make sure to find an original stereo, because this is imperative for the "collector-type" buyers. |
i do have the original stereo...however, it keeps saying "phone" and no sound comes out. I just put a jvc stereo in. i kept the factory harness. I dont know if the phone thing is common? I try to drive it very little, however it is fun to put the top down and cruise in florida. If i keep the car it will average approx 5-9k miles a year.

It sounds like you enjoy and appreciate the car enough to keep it.
If you were going to sell it, you should call the dealer and inquire regarding the "PHONE" on the display. Then I would list on auction on Ebay for $13,000 or so. Put as many photos of the car and service documentation as possible. I would wager that it would get bids up to $15K maybe more. But ebay is tough to predict on these kinds of items. And it might actually fetch more money if marketed locally in Florida. Either way good luck with that beautiful car! |

Your MB is prewired for a 6 CD player in the trunk. You can use an Alpine CHM-S630 [needs Crutchfield's adapter cable] or OEM [more expensive]. Used ones of both avail on eBay. In the event the OEM radio [Becker 1492] malfunctions, Becker will rebuild it and optionally add an iPod port. I did the rebuild Jan 08 for $161.oo To get better sound you can use 5.25" speakers in the dash. I used Phoenix Gold RSd5. Lots of audio alternatives in that section of this forum. If you're a DIY'er or just curious, you can access the MB parts catalog used by the dealers at http://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/ Membership & access is FREE. There's also a Repair Manual on 2 CDs available from this web site or sometimes you can get a used on from someone who doesn't need theirs anymore. You've obviously caught the forum members attention with your "new" MB. Next time you consider selling it, go test drive a few cars with a $20,000 selling price. |
i have the code...... redoing the code only allows it to work for the day....then it starts happening again....i do have the cd changer in the trunk as well. i guess i look into sending the radio out?

I would just remove the phone and its components since it is non-functional, the phone sends a signal to the radio which causes it to display phone and mute it. a call to Ed Abel at Becker, or sent him a post at
http://mbca.cartama.net/ you will have to sign up no membership required or Eds # If you need it fixed, please contact me @ 201-773-0976 and I can give you some guidance. |
