88 sel 6cyl fuel pump issue.
Hello folks
a friend of mine has a 1988 sel 6cyl mercedes. I don't have the engine size at this time. The car starts and idles fine but if you try to give it any gas it just dies. I was told to check the fuel pump pressure. Does this sound like the problem? if so what should the pressure be and where do i tie into the fuel line to test it. thanks Bob |

The KE Jetronic test pressure is temperature dependent from a chart. That said, for the problem that you are troubleshooting, it is more important to look for a serious pressure drop when blipping the throttle than it is to look for the exact correct pressure value.
You will need a tee set up with the correct fittings to connect a fuel pressure gauge to the system. Consult the FSM or a Bosch Fuel Injection manual for specific fuel pressure gauge hook up points. Good luck, |

Larry will i need to cut a tee into the fuel line or is there a port in the existing line.
Thanks Bob |
