1998 E320 4 matic wagon suspension & ABS

Looking for pointers on how to replace front shocks and the rear hydraulic auto leveling shocks on a 1998 E320 4 matic wagon.

Also, there is an intermittent "knocking" sound coming from the ABS block under the hood. What is this and is there reason for concern? Brakes are working well now, seems OK.

thanks, Mike

Rear leveling rear shocks rarely ever fail, what is the symptom?

As far as the fronts go, jest expect to spend more money & time doing that job.

Is the traction system light on?

Thanks for the info. Rear levelling shocks are leaking slightly, still working properly though. Front shocks have no leaks, but are weak. Front end dives when applying brakes. Maybe just do the fronts? No traction light indicator comes on. I was going to treat both front and rears as maintanance items and replace. I plan to do it myself anyway and am looking for pointers as I haven't done it before. Suggestions? ( Car has 127,500 miles FYI, well cared for.) Mike
