Electric Seat Switch

Help,

My car is a 1995 E300 Diesel 124 Body, but my question should be identical to an E300, That;s why I am posting here.

My Passenger side seat electric adjustment switch (Without Memory Function) does not raise the rear seat cushion. All of the other seat functions, including the front seat cushion height adjustment, as well as the forward and backward movement are functioning OK

I removed the switch from the door and was trying to figure out which pins to short in order to raise the rear cushion, as its now at its lowest position and totally uncomfortable for a passenger to seat in, but could not figure it out, and unfortunately I don't have access to any wiring diagrams.

Does anyone know the procedure and the wires (color codes) that I need to short in order to raise the back of the passenger seat cousin. Once Raised, I will leave it permanently in its raised position

Did you try shooting some contact cleaner into the switch and working the buttons back and forth? Probably the contacts in the switch.

I did try spraying some contact cleaner inside, but no luck. I know the switch is defective as I don't hear that particular switch click when I move it. The other switches do function, and do make a clicking sound when activated.

I am not that good with my hands, so I am hesitant to take the switch totally apart. (Its also well sealed) I'll never get it back together again.

Actually there are 3 (maybe 4, but can't remember now) separate sealed switches inside the main switch unit. One I presume is for the head rest, and the other 2 (or 3) are for the various functions of the seat adjustment. My unit does not have a memory function.

So at this point I am just trying to figure out which 2 wires I need to Jumper in order to raise the rear of the seat cushion.

I'm not sure off hand my w124 used to do the same the thing and I would usually get it to go by cycling the key and using the seat switch.

S23 s5 = Looks to be Gray and orange

Not sure if gray is up, or orange? Pretty sure you have to ground each one out, one at a time.

Oh yea, ya got some extra fuses on hand.

Thanks for the reply Pmari and for the attached diagram. This gives me something to start with, and if its the same color codes as in my car, I should be able to figure it out.

Your suggestion of having lots of spare fuses on hand is probably a good idea

I used the PDF wiring diagram that you posted, and was able to figure out which wires I need to deal with in order to get the seat cushion up again. It worked. Not one fuses blown in the process
