![]() first, i compared the front window seals to the rear. they look identical so i am sure that no window tint installer cut them or anything....the look ok, and are not cracked or flattened...... I have never in my life seen a worse tint job. maybe it has something to do with how far back it is done, but this tint film is super thick, and i am thinking that it is interfering with window seal in some location (providing less than an optimum seal) ........ the windows don't really slap around when i slam a door, but they feel a bit loose, and i think they tilt slightly forward when raising the window, so maybe that is contributing also... here are the pictures.... ![]() ![]() seals look fine ^^ Have you ever seen anything like this ? ![]() ideas ? the worse quality tint job ever!!!

"slapping around" when you close the door sounds like the plastic slide is missing from the window bottom track.

I'd take the door panel off and inspect things...
THere should be a moisture barrier which is thin plastic. I bet a tech when he was in the door removed it- this make a big difference. You need to trace down what is rattling anyhow- Doubt it's the door seal. Could be the window chanel strips. By the pictures I don't think those door seals would contribute significantly till your over 80 mph+. Michael |

Found this in my door
![]() it holds the back side of the window in the passenger door were the noise is the worst..... So, if i get a new regualtor, do you think it will take care of the noise? i would hate to change it for nothing since the window is working fine The driver's door: nothing is broken, but there is some wear in the plastic parts in the regulator so the window moves... I cannot afford windows seals from the dealer now, so anyway to check their condition? I need some advice at this point Edit: anyone have that part for sale? or the whole passenger regualtor? i don't need the motor as mine is fine Edit: Found it locally for $5 ,,,, ![]()

Common failure part, part of the slide mechanism, have to lower the window all of the way to put it on (disconnected from lift IIRC).

I wouldn't think so. The direction that would concern me is fore/aft and how level it goes up.
Reach up to the top of the B pillar edge of the window frame as you drive, pull inward on the upper rear corner of the window frame (as in closing it tighter) and see if it lessens the noise. As the seal gets harder, it will keep the top corner from sealing sometimes by pushing out on the window frame.

I THINK I FIXED IT
I replaced the broken parts in the window regulator. boy oh boy was getting that thing in place hard!!! I hated every minute of it....
![]() anyhow, i aligned the windows after that according to the factory CD, and what do you know, it worked!!!!!! No more wind gushing noise.... I still need to test more since it is raining and hard to tell with the water noise and all, but i am fairly confident that i have solved the problem. I am good ![]() I will update this after further testing, hopefully someone else will find this usefull ![]()

I can tell you what the problem is on my wind noise. The frame of the window is bent ever so slightly at the top rear corner, i.e. the window frame is ever so slightly 'sprung' so that it sticks out very slightly proud of the rear window frame, if you know what I mean. (It should be flush across there.) It looks like the PO tried to pry the window frame apart enough to stick a coat hanger or something in there to unlock the door? Who knows.
I diagnosed it by driving the car, opening the rear driver's window, and sticking my left arm out enough to push on the top of the driver's door window frame so as to 'spring' it back into place temporarily. Presto, that instantly stopped the wind noise. So now I have to fiigure out how to permanently spring the window frame back into place. If I can't do it, it's off to the body shop, that is after I get the motor back together. Maybe check that on yours. I sympathize with your frustration, believe me. By the way I have the same exact car as you, the '93 300E 2.8. |

Stumped on this one
So i finally got around to changing the front door seals. no difference, and problem still persists.
![]() so now, i basically eliminated any chance that this noise is coming from the cabin i think (especially the front doors). this has to be something so obvious yet i cannot find it!?! any ideas?

Well... Rats. One thing you can try is to have someone else drive the car while you sit in the pass. seat and then also try sitting in the back seat, on both sides. See if that helps you localize the sound. Sometimes sounds reverberate around and you get fooled as to where they are coming from. It might give you a different perspective on the problem.
Failing that, it might be time to take it to a body shop that has experience with these cars and let them have a look at it... maybe you can pay them for an hour's labor or something for a diagnosis. Let us know what you find. Pete |
