Newer 4-matic question.
If youturn the traction control off does the 4-matic still kick in and does it allow you to spin all 4 wheels ?

Depends on Year & model..
Some cars have "open" transfer case & others use a clutch pack to lock-up system front to back. ESP off doesn't mean the complete system gets turned off.

The 2002 cas has a basic open transfer case & the later car has mechanical clutches to help with the locking.
Turning off the ESP still allows for throttle reduction thru ASR. Would be wise to change fluid in the 2007 car...reccomended at 39K miles. As well as the trans! Many failed way to early on the W211 cars. Can also chatter at low speeds.
