I hear you, JM. What sprayed gasoline on the fires of 124 addiction was owning several 123's. All my 123's are long gone and I hope never to own another. In the meantime, a second 124.036 followed me home last month... my M119 fleet is growing... uh-oh!

A friend of the family bought an 87 with 90k on it and drove it to 385K with no problems. Mostly highway miles as a traveling salesman.

Thumbs up

My M103 car is around 267k from what I can recall last time I drove it. Going to do the head summer '10 hopefully. I have three A/C systems to finish first.

I do have some slower starting when totally cold... i.e. excessive cranking.

And I do foul out two plugs (number three and six) every three to five months along with oil consumption and leakage of around one quart every 700-1000 miles. Of course the oil/plugs depends on how much I drive the vehicle.

When the trans dies I do believe I will be converting the car to a five speed.

194,000 miles

we have a 95 e320 wagon. Bought it with 178,000 on the clock.
Had all the service records.
We drive it daily, at least 500 miles a week.
going on a 1500 mile road trip.

we are the 3rd owners of this california car that ended up in Texas. Still had Cali Plates when we bought it.

Bought for 2750. Paid about that much in parts for all the DIY repairs I've done -still need to do control arms and front suspension - but it drives fairly well. Beats the hell out of car payments.

Hoping to making to at least 300,000. Just wish it was a w124 diesel. Oh well, we still get 24 mpg. highway if my wife drives

147k on mine, runs absolutely perfect.......it is VERY rewarding to drive a perfect running 300E....it truly is an incredible car.....I've got mine just about perfect at this point (engine, steering, suspension) everything is perfect and to spec. It rides/handles so well it is actually very tempting to just go and drive around for no reason! And wow does that engine rev/fly.

My old 1986 300E was sold to a friend with approx 218kmi on it. He stopped by my house yesterday with 276kmi on the clock now. It's due for the usual M103 head rebuild though, as oil consumption has gradually gotten worse. Still, 276k on the original head ain't bad...!

It's about to get fresh Bilsteins all around, and probably the head rebuilt as well. At this rate it should be well over 300k in a couple more years...

Your photos show another ones of the dents in rear.

The W124 dent conspiracy is alive and well...

My blue '87 has a similar dent, below the left tail light (click here). My white '87 has a little deeper dent in the rear (click here).

Weird, eh?
