1996 SL 320 Tranny

Hi !
Just got a nice SL320 and in the morning my tranny won't shift into third gear right away it struggles until it finally lets loose. Is this common until it warms up or is there a reccomendation. If I sit in the driveway for a minute or so and go thru the gears as it idles then it breaks loose very quickly and is okay until it cools down considerably.Any idea's?
Thanks ; Jim

I think it's designed to keep the revs up when cold so the catalyst can warm up a bit and operate more efficiently. Mine does the same.

Correct. Sounds like normal operation to me.
