I have a '92 300 SL and the remote only works within about 3' of the locks. It never was great. It has new batteries. Does anyone have any solution to obtaining a greater distance?

These IR remotes were like this. That is why Mercedes went to the new RF remotes in the latest version.

Does this mean that there is nothing I can do about It? Short of going for an after market remote?
