1988 190 E alternator replacement
I was putting a replacement alternator on my 1988 190E 2.3 and I did not disconnect the battery first.....In the process of putting the plug into the back of the replacement alternator, the orientation was off and it arched briefly. I disconnected the batery and finished the repair but now all the warning lights on the dash are illuminated. Did I make matters worse or can I easily fix this screw up...I'd apprechiate any advice
Thanks Tom |

disconnect the alt plug and the battery + wire on the alternator . re check all system for operation and isolate the faulty .
you may get by just replacing the regulator at the back of the alternator. mak |

Check for blown fuses in the fusebox, and on the over-voltage protection relay there is a red plastic fuseholder with a clear lid. Replace any blown fuses. Inspect for wiring that may have oveheated or melted.

probably blew the ovp relay fuse or ovp. check it out by the battery. it has a red top with (for your year i think) 2 10amp blade fuses on top.
