SRS light

Car: 1992 400E

The SRS light comes on during start up and then goes off (as it should). After about 5-10 seconds of it being off, it comes back and stays on until the car is turned off. I haven't read any codes yet.

But if anyone has come across such a problem and has solved it, your results will be a good staring point for me.

I will be reading the codes next week.

Any insights appreciated.

Thanks,

HS

Got stalling or hard starts too?

Search the forum for "OVP". It's a relay that goes bad.

In a recent thread, one fellow fixed it by just spinning the fuses. Check your seat belt buckle connections for any crap that might have fallen in there. If you can correlate the light with turning the steering wheel then it might be the horn hub under the steering wheel. It's rather expensive so just getting in there and cleaning the area and the contacts might do the trick. With my fault there was nothing visually wrong with the hub but replacing it solved the problem. Try new contacts first, they are inexpensive.
