Phantom counsole lights on a 500E

Hi Everyone,
I think I figured out what is draining my battery on the 92 500E. I walked out to the garage with the lights off and noticed some lights coming from the 500E and it's been sitting there for a couple months now. Turns out specific dash lights were "Pulsating" on. Specifically,,,, Rear shade button, rear headrest button, both seat warmer buttons and the gear selector. What's ever more weird is I'm having problems with all of these functions. Rear shade, headrest, seat heaters and (I'm guessing complete coincidence..) Transmission.

I opened and closed the door and the interior light was just pulsating just like the dash lights. Instead of disconnecing I decided to let it go and see what it did. The next day the dash lights were not blinking. Oh, and the battery is still charged as it's on a trickle charger.

Any suggestions or ideas where the problem is???

Thanks!
Adam

dunno but whenever I click your links to see & hear your 500E I get Ebaums world. No 500E there. I think you need some Photobucket. F that putfile or whatever. Kinda disappointed.

Otherwise you got an electrical gremlin obviously and I hope you get it sorted. Love your cars.

Weird, Yeah I have a photobucket account now. Thanks for the heads up on the links. I'm removing them.

This is a real long shot from an amateur but I'll offer it up anyway.

The seat belt warning lights in the overhead light console (right above the rear view mirror) have some circuitry that makes them blink. This circuitry is contained in a module that is part of the dome light unit. I have heard of instances where this cicuitry faults and causes some strange light blinking battery draining type problems.

Might be worth removing the dome light assembly for a few days to see if your problem goes away....

Again, a long shot, but it is fairly easy to remove the light assembly......
